Ketchikan, also known as the salmon capital of the world, has a population of over 8000 people. Every summer the city is hosting almost 1 million tourists, mostly from the cruise chips.

Things not to miss in Ketchikan:

* The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show – a popular tourist attraction that has skilled performers in activities like log-rolling and tree climbing.

* Totem Heritage Center – with it’s collection of 19th century totem poles being listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

* Blueberry Arts Festival – where thousands of residents and visitors gather for blueberry-themed events like blueberry lunch, slug race, pie-eating contest, beard and mustache contest or battle of the bands. What’s more cute about this festival its that it concludes with a fishermen’s poetry slam and Gigglefeet Dance Festival on the last day.

* The Southeast Alaska Discovery Center – highlights the Tongass National Forrest and Misty Fjords National Monument, both of which cover most of the southern Southeast Alaska.

Fun place to visit and amazing people to meet.
